Teaching Volunteer

SOSVA (Society for Service to Voluntary Agencies) founded in the year 1984 by eminent personalities and by Magsaysay and Padmabhushan awardees like the late Dr. Banoo Coyaji, Dr. Rajnikant Arole etc and has been governed by a team of retired civil servants. One of the most challenging initiatives SOSVA has taken is the promotion of voluntarism in the community. This innovative idea has as its very basis the realization that while numerous selfless individuals want to offer their time and talent in the service of the community, and while several social organizations need such services, there is no institutional mechanism to bring the two together. SOSVA has tried to bridge this gap. VOLACT (Centre for Promoting Voluntary Action) one of the projects of SOSVA was set up in the year 1997 in Mumbai with the aim to motivate conscientious citizens to volunteer their time, talent for any noble cause with a registered NGOs Over the last 18 years, VOLACT has managed to > Place volunteers with 215 NGOs from various sectors like health, education, differently able, environment, community development etc > Enable 6000+ volunteers to contribute their mite to society. SOSVA’s volunteers come from all walks of life; they are students, housewives, retirees, professionals, corporate employees, government officials, foreign nationals and so on. But all of them are driven by the zeal to contribute to the society; they want to volunteer for a cause.
